oyster shells in concrete

the counter top update

yeah!  the concrete counter tops were installed today in the beach cottage kitchen

crushed oyster shells were added to the mixture to lighten them up a bit, and add some shell speckles

50 pounds cost 14.99 at our local Agway store
(they are used as chicken feed to help with the calcium for their egg shells)

to see how we make concrete counters check out our tutorial

now we  get to do all the fun stuff like adding the tile back splash, window treatments and accessories (well I don't know if John considers tile installation fun - but I think it is)

good bye old kitchen

the big reveal coming next week...
(with or without the new counter depth fridge arriving)
